Ty's Take

The Juggalo arrests this week pulled in enough drugs to stock a small pharmacy, which tells you something about what's flowing through these communities and who's bringing it. Meanwhile, the school board just gave a kid a commendation for pulling people out of an apartment fire, and that same week we're watching city council approve a curfew and reading about a Christian mission working overtime to shelter women and children in crisis. It's the same tension that shows up everywhere around here: the lake draws people in for the good life and the bad one both, and it takes real people doing real work to keep this place from tipping. The rest of it, the new decking materials and the Labor Day sales and the car shows, that's the life people come here for. But this week the hard work caught your eye for a reason.
