Ty's Take
Thursday was one of those days that reminds you why we need firefighters and why old buildings don't always deserve saving. A house fire in Linn Creek and a controlled demolition at a landmark real estate building happened within hours of each other, both keeping crews plenty busy. Add in a couple of serious traffic accidents around the county and you've got the kind of afternoon that makes dispatch phones ring nonstop and leaves folks grateful for people who show up when things go sideways. Meanwhile, the good news is the beaches are open this weekend and the fair's coming with deep fried everything, so there's that to look forward to. Sometimes a Thursday that tests your infrastructure is just the price of living in a place people actually want to be.
