Water and whiskey—two things that've always demanded respect around these lakes, and two things we keep learning the hard way never to mix. A man dead at Truman, another fighting for his life after a DWI wreck in Miller County, all in the same news cycle. You'd think by now, with everything we know, with every cautionary tale that gets passed around the boat docks and the bars, we'd have figured this out. But water doesn't care what you know, and neither does a bottle, and neither does a steering wheel in the hands of someone who shouldn't be holding it.

Sedalia Man Drowns in Truman Lake
A 36-year-old Sedalia man died Saturday morning after drowning at Shawnee Bend Swim Beach on Truman Lake. The Missouri Highway Patrol responded to the incident shortly after 8:15 a.m.
DWI Wreck Seriously Injures One in Miller County
One person sustained serious injuries in a two-vehicle collision Friday afternoon on Highway 52 at Meadowbrook Road in Miller County. A driver faces DWI charges and will appear in court pending the investigation.
