Fourth of July weekend at the lake always runs hot—this year literally, with triple digits in the forecast—but what's got people scrambling isn't the heat. Two separate fireworks contracts fell through just days before the holiday, leaving Osage Beach and Lake Valley scrambling to reschedule their shows to July 11th. It's the kind of thing that tests a community's patience when families have already marked calendars and made plans, but there's a lesson buried in here: the vendors and companies that keep our summer running are stretched thin right now. Between the heat, the crowds, and the water accidents already piling up before the weekend even starts, everybody's working past their limit. Might be a good time to check on your neighbors and give yourself an extra minute before you head out on the water.
