Ty's Take
That truck went down at the boat ramp near Bagnell Dam, and by now most folks around here know it—the water's been running high and fast, and the Osage doesn't forgive carelessness or bad luck the way the lake sometimes does. It's the kind of accident that hits different when you live in a place where the water's part of your daily life, where kids grow up learning respect for it the way other places teach caution around traffic. Easy Street's under threat from the same floodwaters, roads buckling under what nature's decided to pour down, and it reminds you that for all the talk about summer guests and real estate and the amphitheater drawing crowds back year after year, this region's still got a wild side that doesn't care much about our plans. The Ozarks are beautiful precisely because they're powerful, and weeks like this one sort the people who understand that from the ones who are just passing through.
