Ty's Take
Downtown doesn't get revitalized by committee votes alone, but the council's moving in the right direction with the police car purchase and whatever they've got cooking for the core of Houston. A town this size lives or dies on whether young people and new families see reason to stay, and that means streets worth walking, businesses worth patronizing, and law enforcement that's equipped to keep things safe. The Piney country's got natural beauty most places would kill for, and somebody's finally thinking about making that work for us instead of just talking about it. Don't expect miracles by next spring, but a functioning downtown beats what we've been living with.
