Ty's Take

Nobody wants to talk about suicide, which is exactly why we need to keep talking about it. A former Licking resident doing that work now, shining light on prevention, reminds us that some of the hardest conversations happen in small towns where everyone knows everyone and silence feels easier than speaking up. Same month we're marking domestic violence awareness, same week we're watching our kids play volleyball and football under the lights. Life in a county this size means we're all closer to each other's struggles than we sometimes want to admit. The good news is we're also closer to each other's help.
