Ty's Take

There's a particular kind of grace that shows up when a place takes care of its own, and we saw plenty of it this week around Texas County. A nurse who's spent four decades at Texas County Memorial Hospital watching over her neighbors ended up on the other side of that care, and the staff didn't miss a beat. Meanwhile, when fire tore through 500 acres out at Raymondville and a family in Licking lost everything, folks didn't wait around for somebody else to organize help. They just started. A deer in the road sent another one of ours to the hospital. These are ordinary emergencies, the kind that happen everywhere, but what matters is how a community shows up when the trouble comes. Ours did.
