Ty's Take
There's something about fall in Texas County that brings out the competitive fire, and this week our cross country and volleyball teams showed up at Mountain Grove with something to prove. High school sports have always been the real calendar around here, the thing that gets folks out of the house on a Friday night or a Saturday morning, and when your kids are running fast or playing hard, you notice it matters to the whole community. Meanwhile, back in Licking, two sisters are opening a coffee shop with the kind of neighborly vision that used to be more common, a place built on the idea that people need a reason to sit down together. And then there's the crash on a Cabool street that totaled two vehicles and reminded us, like these things always do, that the roads we know by heart can turn dangerous without warning.
