Ty's Take

Saturday was a hard reminder that these county roads don't forgive mistakes, and they don't care much about speed or experience either. Two separate accidents in one day, one south of Cabool and another near Success, left people hurt and families dealing with what comes next. The state patrol will sort through the details of how it happened, but everybody who drives these roads knows the variables already: gravel shoulders, curves that tighten faster than you expect, and a lot of empty space between here and the nearest hospital. That motorcyclist airlifted to Springfield likely owes his life to quick thinking by whoever called it in and the flight crew that got him there. The rest of us just need to remember that getting home five minutes later is better than not getting home at all.
