When the water came back safe to drink straight from the tap Wednesday, most folks probably just turned the faucet like they always do and didn't think twice about it. That's how it should be. But that boil advisory that had half the county heating kettles and rationing tap water for near about a week sits as a reminder that the systems keeping a rural county running, the ones we depend on without much thought, need attention and maintenance and money to stay reliable. The Texas County Fair Board getting that twenty thousand dollar grant is the kind of news that builds something, and it matters. Sharon Whitworth and Sidney Ann Bridges both leaving us this week means two more empty chairs in the places where they mattered most. That's the kind of week it was.
