Ty's Take

Most weeks you can read the Herald and see exactly where this county is headed, and this week it's in two places at once. There's the $38 million riding into the tech hub that includes us, the kind of investment that makes you think about what Houston might look like in ten years if we're smart about it. Then you turn the page and there's Norma Jean West's passing, and you realize the real wealth around here has always been the people who stayed and built things, who knew their neighbors' names and showed up when it mattered. Both stories are true. Both matter. The work ahead isn't about picking one future over the other, it's about making sure the new money doesn't crowd out the kind of community that made this place worth investing in at all.
