Ty's Take

Somebody in the Mesilla Valley lost a good one this week. Michelle Renee Sanders, according to the notice in the Bulletin, was the kind of person who showed up for her community, and in a place like this where everybody's tied to the land and to each other through seasons of planting and harvest, that matters more than most folks understand. The second piece about still bringing people together, without more detail in front of me, probably says something true about what happens around here when we lose someone who actually did the work. In a town built on chile and family and the rhythms of the Rio Grande, the people who hold things together aren't always the ones making headlines. They're just the ones you miss when they're gone.
