Carol Ann Knapp Foreman and Clarence Villemez both spent their years in this valley, and now both are gone, which is the kind of week that reminds you how small these communities really are. You see the names in the paper and you know the families, or you know somebody who does, and you think about all the work that got done here over the decades, the chile seasons that came and went, the water that moved down the Rio Grande the same as it always has. The Bulletin carries their notices down in Las Cruces where the bigger papers run, but around here it lands different. This is the cost of living in a place long enough to matter.
