Slow week up the Mesilla Valley, which around here usually means everybody's either out in the fields or in the packing sheds where the real work happens this time of year. The entertainment guide landed instead of hard news, and that's fine, because anybody paying attention knows what's actually going on in Hatch right now, August heat and all. The chile harvest doesn't wait for the newspaper to tell you it's time to work, and the roasters are running around the clock already. Come September the trucks will slow down and maybe we'll have room to breathe and read about what's on television. Until then, the only show that matters is the one happening in every field and greenhouse from here to Garfield.
