Ty's Take

A pumpkin patch opening up over in West Plains might seem like small potatoes to folks outside the county, but anybody who's got kids or grandkids knows what it means around here come October. It's the kind of thing that gets families out of the house on a Saturday, gives the little ones something to remember besides screen time, and puts a few dollars in somebody's pocket during the season when tourism money tends to dry up before the holidays hit. The Ozarks have always run on these small traditions, the ones that don't make anybody rich but keep the wheels turning and give people a reason to gather. If West Plains is drawing families from up here in Shannon County and beyond, that's worth noting, and it's worth getting out there to see what they're doing right.
