The school funding push in Helena is about to get serious, and those two hundred million dollars represents something this region's been chasing for years: enough breathing room to actually plan ahead instead of patch holes. Out here, we've watched good teachers leave because the pay doesn't match what they could make in Denver or Seattle, and we've seen classrooms make do with equipment that ought to be retired. The proposals aren't perfect, and the politics will be messier than a spring thaw, but for once the conversation isn't whether we can afford better schools. It's how we're going to build them.
