Three days now at that corner on Williamson, and what started as a vigil for Corey Ruiz has become something harder to look away from. People are showing up, staying put, grilling food and bearing witness to a moment this city can't pretend didn't happen. The encampment itself is a statement, quiet but stubborn, the kind of thing that settles into a community and changes how neighbors talk to each other afterward. Billings is big enough to look away from a lot of things, but not this week. Not on this corner.
