The PSC hearing on Northwestern Energy's long-term power plan pulled out what matters most in a region like ours: people aren't interested in abstractions about kilowatts and infrastructure. They showed up to talk about what kind of future they want their kids to inherit, and whether betting big on gas and nuclear makes sense when the world is moving different directions. That's legitimate business, and it deserves more than the usual back-and-forth. A utility that powers the region needs to hear those voices, not just acknowledge them and move ahead anyway.
