Those pills don't disappear. They get passed around, traded, swallowed, and they end up in the veins of people who never had a say in how many were written. The medical community out here is close-knit enough that when someone with credentials walks away and goes public, they're burning a lot of bridges. That takes either real conviction or real desperation, and either way, this deserves a hard look from whoever's supposed to be watching the watchmen.
