Ty's Take
The East Boulder picket line is still up, negotiations are still going, and that's about all anybody knows for certain right now. What's worth watching is how long a strike like this holds in a county where most people know somebody working underground, or married to somebody working underground, or counting on that paycheck to pay their own bills down the line. Ranching country doesn't run on sentiment, and neither do mining operations. The real pressure point won't be the first week of signs and coffee thermoses. It'll be October, when the bills come due and the winter starts getting real. Both sides know it. That's why they're still talking.
