Ty's Take
Fair week coming up means the fairgrounds north of town will look like the whole county decided to show up at once, which is pretty much what happens. The kids will have their stock in the barns before dawn, the 4-H booths will be running on coffee and nerves, and somewhere around Wednesday night somebody's heifer will get loose and tear through the parking area. It's the one week a year when you see people you haven't run into since last August, when the feed store guys actually know what day it is because everybody's buying supplies for the show, and when the Herders athletic program can count on a crowd that hasn't got anywhere else to be. Down valley in Harlowton they're gearing up for their own music thing that same week, which means this part of the county knows how to throw a summer, and that matters more than outsiders think it does.
