Ty's Take

The fly-in and car show coming up this weekend is the kind of thing that reminds you why people who leave Big Timber keep coming back—pilots landing on the strip, folks polishing up their restorations out in the sun, that particular kind of Saturday that doesn't ask much of anybody except to show up and remember why we live in a place where a guy can still tinker with an engine or keep an old airplane flying. Slow week otherwise, which is when you notice the real fabric of things: our kids making the honor roll up at Northwest, our music teacher representing us at the State Games in July, the county commissioners working the details of water rights on Rock Creek like they always do. This is what sustains a town—not the headlines, but the showing up.
