Ty's Take
Slow week on the blotter—nothing that'll keep anybody up at night—which gives us room to notice what's actually holding this county together. There's a woman out in Joliet doing the unglamorous work of matching people with what they need; there's a kid at State trying to figure out how to be both a businessman and a firefighter; and out in Fishtail, somebody's willing to take on a general store nobody else wants, which tells you something about who still believes in small places. Meanwhile, the Forest Service adds another 161 acres to the protected side of the ledger, and up in Helena our Senate race is shaping up like you'd expect—money talking louder than most of us can. The real story isn't in any one of these pieces. It's that Big Timber and Sweet Grass County keep limping forward because of people who choose to show up, whether it's behind a counter in Fishtail or in front of a need in Joliet.
