Ty's Take

Primary season came and went without much fanfare, which is about right for a county where everybody already knows everybody else and most folks have made up their minds long before the ballots drop. What matters more than the preliminary numbers is what happens next, the general election stretch when the real choices get made, but for now the primary tells us the shape of things, who's still standing and who's already looking ahead. Meanwhile, up in Del Norte next month, Forest Service is laying out what winter recreation looks like on the Rio Grande National Forest, and if you use those high country roads or trails when the snow comes, you'll want to hear what's changing. Then there's that fence business down in La Sierra that's been gnawing at folks for months, and now wildlife folks have weighed in on what ought to happen. Summer's when things actually get decided around here, even if the big headlines came in winter.
