Ty's Take
Primary season came and went in Conejos County without much fanfare, which is probably how most folks around here prefer it. The unofficial results are in, the county's moved on to the next thing, and folks who care about who's running are already thinking about November. That's the rhythm of a small county election, really, less drama than you'd see in the cities and more about knowing your neighbors are getting their turn at the ballot box. Up in Del Norte next month there's talk about winter recreation on the Rio Grande National Forest, which matters out here where access to those high country trails and camping spots means something different than it does to folks passing through. And then there's the La Sierra fence fight, the kind of neighbor dispute that usually ends up in court or the newspaper or both, except this one's got wildlife biologists involved now. That's the week that was, and there's probably a lot more underneath each of these headlines than what made it into print.
