Primary day came and went quiet down here in Conejos County, the way it usually does when the real fight hasn't started yet. These preliminary numbers out this morning won't mean much come November, but they do tell you something about who showed up and who didn't, and that's the part worth paying attention to. In a county this size, where everybody knows who's running before a single sign gets hammered into the ground, the turnout in March says more than the vote totals ever will. The campaigns are still loading their guns. Come fall, when both sides are ready to spend real money and energy on these races, that's when we'll see what the valley actually thinks.
