Anybody who's spent time around the high country knows that fences and wildlife don't always play nice together, and the results from that study on the La Sierra property are going to matter for what comes next in that boundary dispute. Meanwhile, the Forest Service is coming down to Del Norte next week to talk winter recreation up on the Rio Grande National Forest, which means somebody's thinking ahead about how we use these mountains when the snow flies. Both conversations, in their own way, are about the same thing: how we share this land, and whether the people who live here year-round get a say in the answer. That's the real weight of a slow week up the valley.
