Pride Fest coming up over three days here in the valley says something about how this place has shifted, or maybe just how comfortable people finally feel being themselves in their own hometown. You don't have to agree with everything to notice that. What used to happen quiet and behind closed doors now gets a weekend with a schedule and vendors and the kind of community showing up that used to only happen at the Fourth of July or the county fair. The San Luis Valley's been here for four centuries with all kinds of people trying to live together, and most days we still figure it out. This weekend's just another version of that work.
