Ty's Take

Thirty years of managing timber sales, wilderness permits, and the constant balancing act between recreation and resource protection comes to an end this month when the Saguache district ranger hangs it up. His successor will inherit a job that never gets easier, but at least they'll be stepping into a position that knows the territory. Meanwhile, over at Society Hall, folks will get a chance to hear some real Texas music this weekend, the kind that reminds you the San Luis Valley sits at a crossroads where different cultures and traditions still trade stories and tunes.
