The state's lawsuit against Meta is the kind of thing that feels like it happens somewhere else, until you realize your own kids are staring at their phones instead of looking at the Sangre de Cristos. Colorado's AG is making noise about how the social media giant allegedly markets to minors in ways designed to be addictive, which is a fair fight to pick. Meanwhile, our own city is launching TextMyGov to reach people where they actually are these days, which is a smarter move than pretending the phone in everybody's pocket doesn't exist. There's a tension there worth sitting with: we can't uninvent technology, but we can at least try to use it on our own terms instead of letting it use us.
