Ty's Take
Water's always been the conversation down here, whether you're talking about it over coffee or arguing about it in a meeting that lasts three hours. So it makes sense that Adams State is joining up with a Water Fellows Program, getting students thinking hard about how we manage what flows through the Rio Grande and keeps this valley alive. Meanwhile, Monte Vista's putting on a workshop about plants that don't need much of it, which is the kind of practical thinking we need more of around here. It's not sexy, this stuff about conservation and education, but it's the work that matters in a place like ours where every drop counts and the climate doesn't cut us any slack. The arts matter too, of course, and the music gathering coming up reminds us that a community needs more than water and good sense. But down in the San Luis Valley, you can't have one without thinking about the other.
