Ty's Take
There's something about a Thursday night volleyball match that reminds you why small towns keep showing up for each other, win or lose. The Wildcats took down Capitan in what the log calls a nail-biter, and sure enough, that's the kind of game that gets talked about at the coffee shop for two weeks straight. Meanwhile, the police logs sit quiet, the calendar fills with the usual weekend push of community happenings, and for a few hours at least, a gym full of people had something to cheer about that had nothing to do with missile ranges or base closures or the long fight over water. That's not nothing. In a town like this, those nights matter just as much as the bigger stories. Maybe more.
