Alamogordo's American Legion Post 34 competed in the Legion Western Regional at Fairfield, California on August 7, showcasing competitive youth baseball from New Mexico. The Tigers' tournament run ended in the double-elimination event after facing League City.
Otero County high school athletics heat up this week with football scrimmages featuring Alamogordo, Carlsbad, and Tularosa, plus a boys soccer round robin in Silver City starting August 13. Multiple events are scheduled across the region through August 15, with some times still to be announced.
Chile Gato, Tempting Lou lead qualifiers for All American Futurity
Chile Gato and Tempting Lu posted the fastest qualifying times during trials for the $3 million All American Futurity held August 7 and 8 at the Downs of Albuquerque. Both horses secured positions for the prestigious event.
