Meanwhile, someone's out stealing campaign signs ahead of next month's primary—petty stuff on its face, but it's the kind of thing that corrodes a town faster than rust, the sense that people don't trust the process enough to let it run honest. At least the Alamo seniors know how to keep their eyes on something that matters, a softball win that probably meant more to those kids than anyone watching realizes. This is what small towns do when the big history keeps pressing down: we find the local wins, we vote, we show up, and we figure out how to live with what we've inherited.
