Ty's Take
The budget dust-up heating up downtown is the same argument we've been having for twenty years—whether this town survives on the backs of people trying to keep the lights on and water running, or whether we finally build something that doesn't depend on squeezing the utility ratepayers. We've got Spaceport America sitting out there in the scrub like an unfinished promise, got tourists still coming for the hot springs, got ranchers and retirees and folks just passing through. The question isn't whether we need money. It's whether we're serious about getting it from places other than the utility bills of people who can least afford another hit.
