Ty's Take

The city commission's move on tiny homes—that's the kind of thing that either saves a place like ours or speeds up what was already coming anyway. We've got retirees on fixed incomes, young couples priced out even in a town where housing still costs less than most of the country, and plenty of empty lots that don't do anybody any good. Julian Marta gets named Man of the Year for keeping agriculture alive out here, which matters because without the land and the people who work it, Truth or Consequences becomes just another rest stop with hot springs. The new middle school coming together is about faith in the next generation. But those tiny homes? That's about whether we can actually afford to stay put in the place we've built.
