You can tell a lot about a town by where it lets dogs run free. Silver City's wrestling match over Boston Hill's off-leash policy isn't really about canine freedom, not entirely anyway. It's the usual collision between folks who've settled here for the quiet and the quirk, the ones who want a little wildness left in things, and those who figure wildness needs guardrails. Meanwhile the schools are building athletic fields, the fair's looking for reporters to cover it all, and Cobre's finally got those audits squared away. It's the ordinary work of keeping things together, and none of it gets done without figuring out where everybody's allowed to be.
