Ty's Take
Wind's been the story out here for three days running, and it's hammering us from both ends—literally trying to blow us off the map while it's pushing that Bear Fire toward some better containment numbers. That's the kind of mixed blessing we don't usually get to enjoy, but when you're watching evacuation zones tighten instead of expand, you take what the weather gods hand you. Meanwhile, back in town, the paint store closing and the school board tightening up on handbooks both tell you something about Silver City right now: we're pinching. Fewer businesses holding on, more questions about what gets taught and how, and everybody's got less margin for error than they did five years ago. The wind should ease by tomorrow, but whatever's blowing through our economy and our institutions—that's a slower storm to weather.
