Hummingbird Fire Update 051526
The Hummingbird Fire burning east of Glenwood in the Gila Wilderness has grown to 5,720 acres but firefighters have increased containment to 76%. Crews continue active suppression efforts, including work near previous burn scars from the Blue and Daisy fires.
A critical fire weather watch has been issued for Sunday across the Southwest Mountains and Gila National Forest area as drier air moves in with temperatures climbing to the upper 80s and 90s, combined with winds gusting 20 to 30 mph and humidity dropping to single digits.
