Ty's Take
Buena Vista finally drew a line on short-term rentals while we're still arguing about what a short-term rental even is, and that's the real story here. The housing crunch that's been grinding on both sides of the valley for three years now doesn't care much about policy timing, but at least somebody's at least trying to keep a lid on it before every other house on a quiet street turns into a rotating door of tourists. Meanwhile the sheriff's warning people about phone scams and the county approved an archery range, which is fine, but you can almost feel the valley holding its breath waiting to see if any of this actually slows down what's happening to these towns. The fishing derby's on, the Crest Crank raised money again, and life goes on. But we'd better figure out who gets to stay here and who doesn't, because that's the conversation we should've had five years ago.
