Ty's Take

The Kaleidoscope Discovery Center bringing in a Snoopy exhibit says something true about what this town has figured out. It's not just that families around here want their kids seeing something other than a screen for an afternoon, though that matters plenty. It's that Rolla's learned to use the college, the forest traffic, and the regional draw to build up institutions that stick around. The Discovery Center started small and kept asking what came next. Now they're pulling in the kind of attractions that make parents drive in from St. James and Newburg and points south instead of heading toward the city. That's not luck. That's somebody paying attention to what their community needs and building toward it, one exhibit at a time.
