Ty's Take
Highway 160 getting torn up for a week starting mid-July means anybody heading to Wolf Creek or down toward Durango better plan accordingly, and that's the kind of disruption that catches people off guard around here—we're used to seasonal closures come winter, not summer construction that'll snarl things during peak tourism season. The state's got reasons for the work, no doubt, but it's worth remembering that every road project in Archuleta County ripples through the whole economy, from the restaurants counting on through-traffic to the locals trying to get to jobs on either side of that mountain. Patience is going to be in short supply when the jackhammers start.
