Ty's Take

Summer in Pagosa is doing what it does best—giving people reasons to stick around and remember why they're here. The library's back in full swing, Thingamajig's got the stage warm, the history museum's reminding us what 250 years looks like in a mountain town, and the church is leaning into the one thing this place has always had in abundance: water that heals. You can feel the difference between a resort economy that's just passing through and a community that's actually investing in itself when you see a week like this—theater and faith and local history side by side, all of it pointing inward instead of just at the tourist season. The Fourth's coming, the elections are settling, and there's real work ahead on water and fire and keeping this place intact. But this week, we're living like people who know something worth holding onto.
