Ty's Take
The history museum's opening this week reminds us what we're actually trying to hold onto around here, and it's not the hot springs or the ski reports—those take care of themselves. It's the stories of who lived on this land before us and who built what we've got now, the ranchers and miners and the Ute people whose presence shaped every canyon and water right we argue over. When a town starts caring about its past instead of just cashing in on its present, that's when you know the locals haven't completely lost the conversation to the second-home crowd. Worth a visit if you've got an afternoon.
