Tough week down in the courts, the kind that reminds you violence doesn't respect county lines or how far north you live. Two cases moving through the system now, one heading to district court and another man pleading guilty to beating his girlfriend, and if you've been around this country long enough you know these aren't distant courthouse stories, they're about neighbors, families, and the kind of damage that ripples through small communities for years. The Chama Valley and Abiquiú country aren't immune to any of this, and neither are the people we pass at Bode's or see coming out of the mountains after hunting season. Justice moves slow and paperwork moves slower, but at least it moves.
