Ty's Take

The Chama's running cold and clear this time of year, which is about the only thing a lot of folks around here want to think about come July—never mind the heat or whatever trouble's brewing in town. We've got water, we've got shade under the cottonwoods, and if you're smart you get up early and fish before the sun turns the whole valley into a skillet. It's the rhythm that keeps us here, the one thing that hasn't changed much since our grandfathers were wading the same bends. Everything else—the meth, the sentences handing down from Dulce, even the old Roswell paper closing its doors—that's the world intruding. But the river doesn't care about any of that.
