Election season always hits different up here in the high country, where most folks are too busy with spring work to pay much attention to what's happening down in Santa Fe or Albuquerque. But when a gubernatorial ticket starts mapping out its route through places like Chama and Tierra Amarilla, it's worth asking what they actually plan to say about water rights, land management, or the real cost of living in a county where a winter still means something. These valleys have long memories about promises made during campaign season and whether anybody remembers them come July. We'll be watching to see if this ticket bothers to show up in person or just assumes we're voting the straight ticket like we always do.
