Ty's Take

Most days up here you see the slow work—a weaving class, a roping buckle earned, a bicycle shop doing right by the shelter animals, water rules that keep the trout coming back. That's the real rhythm of the valley, the stuff that holds us together across the land grants and up into Chama country. Then something sharp cuts through—a stabbing over an argument, a kid threatening over a phone—and you remember we're not separate from the rest of the world, just farther from it. The Lota Express coming this fall and the camps and the anniversary fundraisers matter because we keep showing up for each other. But we've got to keep our heads clear about what we're becoming, too.
