Ty's Take

Summer's here and the TV guide is running thick—which tells you something about how folks around the Valley are spending their evenings when the heat hits 105 by mid-afternoon. Can't blame anybody for that. You finish up at the pecan shed or the dairy or out at the Range, and you're looking for air conditioning and something that doesn't require you to think too hard. The networks know it too, which is why they're dumping game shows and reruns into the schedule like they always do this time of year. Nothing wrong with that either. But if you've got time before the heat settles in—early morning, late evening—this is still the season to get outside, to see what's changing in the Valley. The growth keeps coming, the water questions don't get any quieter, and the news doesn't pause just because we're all staying indoors.
